new tradition: haircuts in the kitchen.

a thing that thrills me? when my post title rhymes AND i can make a haiku out of it.

a new tradition
lil haircuts in the kitchen
a new 'do for you.

i watched a few videos on youtube and am now a skilled barber. {youtube is amazing, isn't it?}
after my lengthy education of, oh, about 12 minutes, i embarked on giving my first haircut in my salon located in, you guessed it, the kitchen. i think my first client was a little worried at first but he got shorter hair like he wanted. it may have helped that his hair is wavy and you can't really tell if there's a chunk missing from it... next time i'm going for something a little more daring.

note::
if you're wondering about the dishwashing glove, my hand started hurting from holding the scissors.
also, that picture isn't technically the final product; there was about 30 minutes of haircutting afterward.

charlie visits the dog park.

this past saturday the weather here was so nice that we were able to take charlie to the dog park for the first time! i think every other dog owner in lincoln was there too. not to brag but i'm pretty sure charlie was the star of the dog park that day.

with that being said...

i love my puppy.
i love my puppy because now i have an excuse to go to the dog park and see massively huge bulldogs named buddy who i just want to cuddle with! also, i just love my puppy.
charlie has been a blast so far. full of attitude and lots of sass.
it's like we picked a teenager... except maybe less stressful?

{fun fact: when charlie runs, her back right leg flies up into the air uncontrollably. pictures to come.}

charlie girl.

I introduced Charlie in my last post but here's how we came to acquire her.

Jake and I had been talking about getting a dog for a while and were stuck between a Boston Terrier and an English bulldog. We decided to wait a few months after we were married so that we could save up some money, especially if we were going to be adopting an English Bulldog, but always found ourselves looking at different breeders online. You might say we were obsessed. I fell in love with these bully puppies coming from a breeder in Frankfort, Kansas called Puppies Playhouse. Jake and I loved that fact that the breeder was a vet and was very familiar with the breed. We were pretty much set on their puppies for the future.

It was our last day in Oklahoma and Jake got a crazy idea, like he normally does, to call up Puppies Playhouse to see some of their available puppies. We called early in the morning... no answer. Okay, we'll just call back later. We called about 5 times throughout the day and no one ever answered. When we were about 3 hours away from Lincoln and 30 minutes away from the turn off to Frankfort, we decided to call one last time. We weren't expecting anyone to answer since no one had gotten back to us all day but to our surprise, and especially Jake's, Terri did. We were now on our way to Frankfort and Jake began preparing me telling me not to get attached and that we probably won't be going home with a puppy today. {How can you ask me not to get attached to an animal. You'd think he'd know me better than that.} We got to their vet clinic and saw the most adorable puppies you can imagine. Next thing you know, Jake is throwing out an offer on Charlie and we're riding home with a little bully in our lap. That's how we got our little girl.

So far we've loved every minute of it, even the nights of interrupted sleep. She's a stubborn pup with a mind of her own who loves chewing on pretty much everything, as you can see. We're so excited to have her join our journey. We're anticipating some fun times ahead and when the going gets tough, at least we'll have a good snuggler to cuddle up to.

honeymoonin'.

for our short little get away we headed down south. we made it all the way to oklahoma, which really isn't that exciting of a place but... we're married! some pictures from our getaway below.

oh. and we picked up a baby on our way home.

this is charlotte. we're gonna be calling her charlie.
just how a normal honeymoon should end. with a puppy.

three.

yep. just three days.
i can't wait for the wedding to be over and to just move on with life. strange to say, right?
people look forward to their weddings. planning it. organizing it. me? i just want the end result. throughout the whole process i've been kind of weary of the whole wedding thing.
if it were solely up to me, we would have eloped.
the days are passing really quickly with all that we have to do. getting a house, moving for the first time in 8 years, and getting married takes up quite a bit of time! but in THREE DAYS time will be freed up.
next time you'll hear from me, i'll be a married woman.
crazy.

happy weekend!

happy weekend, everyone!
i'm going to use this post to catch everyone up to speed on what's been going on lately.
are you even ready for this?
probably not.

we got our engagement pictures taken before christmas and finally got to see more of them this past week! if you'd like a closer look,  go check out The Mullers. engagement picture

it was jake's birthday on monday. since i'm going back to school and he's putting in more hours at work, it's gotten a little hectic. for his birthday i wanted to do something extra special with just the two of us so i created a little oasis in the back of my car, bought some delicious cupcakes, and drove jake outside of city limits where you can see all the stars.
